We can cater for events large and small from weddings, bucks and hens nights, or simple BBQ's with families and friends. No matter what your event then look no further.... Bali Chef Hire has highly skilled waiters, cooks, chefs and even bartenders, who will serve your food and beverages, along with creating gourmet delights for you and your guests.
We have 3 options to select from:
Option 1) Chef Menus - These menus are priced per person for a minimum of 6 guests with a cocktail party or 10 as chef only. You simply select the menu from our full list of Indonesian and Western options and we supply all required items. This includes the chef & cook, all ingredients, serving equipment, basic decoration, cooking equipment, BBQ if required, everything to cook and prepare your meal so a no stress, no fuss easy option for guests. Option 2) Chef, Cook, Waitstaff, Service Staff Hire - These are advertised below. Note this option is only to add an additional staff to an event. For example you may have a wedding and require an additional chef for a specialty food stand or desert stand. You may require a waiter at your event. These staff are ideal for hire as additional staff at your special event. Prices for this hire service are listed below.
Option 3) Long Term Staff Hire - Please note this option only applies to hire a chef, waiter, or other staff for 7 day minimum. This service will not include food purchasing plus 10% surcharge cover chef time and transport. You must have a full kitchen with all required equipment. You are hiring the chef's services only. Prices based on requirements and guest numbers. Note breakfast is available, only for long term staff hire and not provided under any other package.

Note as above this is only to add additional staff to a Chef or Bar Menu Event. Staff are NOT available individually for events.
Master Chef / Head Chef
$30 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum When only the best is required. Our master chefs are highly trained to coordinate a full restaurant kitchen, overseas experience, worked as a head chef in reputable restaurant and have the personality to match their skill. These staff are the king and queens of the kitchen. |
Senior Chef / Sous Chef
$25 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum Senior Chefs are highly skilled and have been with Bali Chef Hire for an extensive period of time. They are senior in that they can manage a kitchen effectively, controlling a small number of junior staff and have great food and culinary knowledge to service your event. |
Junior Chef / Station Chef
$20 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum Junior Cooks will assist the master chef and senior chef to prepare food. These staff have a great basis of knowledge and usually work mid to high level in a local restaurant. For casual food service of platters, bbq, babi guling, etc. then a Junior Cook may be all that is required. |
Junior Service / Commis / Busser
$10 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum These staff work the floor of your function, serving food & drinks, removing used plates & glasses and general front of house duties. These staff work with the Food & Beverage Service Seniors and other team members who prepare items for service as a backbone for the event. |
Senior Waitstaff
$15 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum Senior Waitstaff have much experience within restaurants, food and beverage service. They will serve the food and drinks direct to guest working the floor or tables as required. These staff will directly interact with your guest and provide feedback to the head service staff. |
Head Service Staff / Maître D
$25 AUD Per Hour
3 Hours Minimum Head Service Staff often referred to as a Maitre D are the essential managers of food and beverage at a big event. They work between chefs, cooks, bar staff, decorators, and many other event areas to ensure everything runs to plan and if problems arise are quickly solved. |

The number of catering staff for your event greatly depends on the level of service you require at the event, how many guests are attending your event, and how you would like the event to be structured or the service to occur.
Some ideas of where you may want to add or independently hire additional service staff are:
Below you will find some recommended staffing guidelines to assist you in understanding how many staff are required in for food service events:
Chefs / Cooks / Assistants - Generally 1 chef can cook for 10 - 15 guest at 1 time. The chef will always require an assistant cook to help in preparations.
Wait Staff - Required numbers are based upon the kind of event service you are having. We can divide events into 4 types each with separate service levels and therefore wait staff requirement.
Canape / Platter Service - This service may be within either casual or formal settings often for cocktail parties or casual social events. Servers will monitor 2 primary locations; refilling of a central canape / platter table whilst also moving through out the event providing tray service.
For this service type we recommend 1 server to every 20 - 25 guest. If adding bar services ask us about combining food & drinks wait staff.
Buffet Service - This service is one of our most popular either a casual or formal setting within events and parties. Servers will maintain the buffet area and generally assisting guests. Service is usually self service though some items may be assisted by the service staff.
For this service type we recommend 1 server to every 25 - 30 guest. If adding bar services ask us about combining food & drinks wait staff.
Casual Sit Down Dinner of Function - This service is for a casual dinner where guest are served individual plated meals. The server will be required to bring the meals to the table. Please keep in mind the more guest to each server meals will come out with a delay between the first and last plate.
For this service type we recommend 1 server to every 15 - 20 guest. If adding bar services ask us about combining food & drinks wait staff.
Formal Sit Down Dinner of Event - This service is for a formal dinner or a wedding where guest are served individual plated meals. The server will be required to bring the meals to the table. With a higher number of staff to guest we eliminate the delay in service time for high quality service.
For this service type we recommend 1 server to every 7 - 10 guest. If adding bar services ask us about combining food & drinks wait staff.
There are additional things to also consider when planning staffing for an event. We can assist with this and the more we know about your event the better we can provide for your requirements. Should you have hired less staff based on your final confirmed guest attendance, please note that service may not be as quick or efficient as you anticipate. Whilst our staff are effectively trained in their field of service and work efficiently, hiring one chef to accommodate 20 or more guests will affect the efficiency of service.
Some ideas of where you may want to add or independently hire additional service staff are:
- Adding a custom snack, satay, or desert bar to an event.
- Adding a cooking or cocktail demonstration to an event.
- Adding service staff to Canapes, Platters, or Nasi Tempong.
- Adding staff to buffet or Babi Guling packages.
- Staff hire for large events at your resort, restaurant, or bar when in house staff are not sufficient.
- You may also use individual staffing where your event numbers are below our minimum standards on package rates.
- Or you may simply want to customize your event staff.

- Please ensure you have observed our information in regards to planning your event and staff to guest ratios.
- We require a minimum of 5 to 7 days scheduling and planning time prior to your requested booking date.
- 1 to 2 days prior to your event our chef will where possible visit you at the location to confirm requirements and check facilities.
- At the time of booking we will require a deposit of 50% to be paid. Remaining balance is then due in cash on date of consultation.
Prices Inclusions
- Chef Menus are priced inclusive as listed under each of the chef menus.
- Staff Hire cost includes only the staff for the time you have booked them. Please ensure you factor in set up and preparation time when hiring on an hourly rate. Staff will arrive only 10 - 15 minutes prior to the designated start time.
- Long Term Staff Hire includes only the staff for the time you have booked them at our reduced long term rates. Staff can complete shopping for ingredients etc during their time. You must supply facilities and equipment.
Supply of Chef Equipment, Catering Equipment & Other Accessories
Where additional catering equipment, furniture, decorations, accessories, etc are requested or required additional fees will apply. Please notify us at the time of booking and our chef and representative shall discuss this with you at the consultation.
Call Out Fee - a 50,000 IDR fee applies to all staff call outs regardless of duration. Excludes long term staff.
Any and all breakages for dinnerware and or other equipment by guests will be charged to the client making the booking.
Allowances / Facilities
For any shift over 4 hours our Bali Chefs and Bali Catering Staff must be given a break of half hour duration to pick up food and beverages or where unable to leave the premises have food and beverage provided for them.
Suitable facilities must be provided for all Bali Chef & Catering Staff. This includes access to a preparation area, use of a stove or oven based on menu requirements, use of a fridge & freezer, use of a sink.
Availability / Disclaimer
Due to seasonal availability we may be required to substitute ingredients or additional charges my apply. Our chef will advise of this during the consultation. Please note peak season such as New Years, Christmas, or High Season may attract additional fees due to limited staff availability. Currently our service area includes Canggu, Petitenget, Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Tuban, we can service other areas however fees apply based on the location.
